The second day of our trip we took a tour bus across the border to Argentina to see the other side of the falls. They say that you SEE the falls from the Brazil side and you EXPERIENCE the falls from the Argentina side. So true. I could not have imagined what beauty and magnificence this day would hold. To be on top of, beside, and under the falls. . . and too be soaked in the forceful spray of the falls. It was too much to take in.
Country Line: Argentina (left) & Brazil (right)
The boardwalk out to the main fall was built over water it's entire length. It was a long, delightful walk. In this picture, you can begin to see the falls in the distance. As you can see, there was barely a cloud in the sky. The sun was It was probably near 100 degrees (at least?) and as you can guess, extremely humid.
Angelica and I were travel companions. Our faithful body guard, Pastor Paul, came with us, but stayed at the hostel and didn't tour with us. Angelica's is working on her English, so our communication was limited. It's amazing how far you can get on one-word-sentences, pointing, gesturing, and facial expressions! haha (Anyone who's ever traveled to another country is nodding their head and smiling right now, right?)
When you stood beside some of the larger falls, the spray was so powerful it would drench you. That was much-welcomed cooling--so refreshing. (Well, I enjoyed it! I don't know that Angelica did so much.)
"And God said to Noah...
When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh.
And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh." Gen 9:14, 15
We had a little over an hour on the bus (from the hostel to the park). This was a great opportunity to meet people. During the trip, it was so much fun to meet so many people from ALL over the world--Australia, England, Holland, Israel, France, and.... 2 girls from Texas (whoop!). The 4 Australians (last picture) were fun companions. We rode the bus and several trains with them. They very nearly had me convinced to move to Australia to be a nurse! ;-)
It was just the most AWEsome experience to close your eyes, feel the spray on your face and hear nothing but the deafening roar of water plunging 270 feet. Words can't describe that moment.
I am so grateful to the Abels for making this trip to Iguazu Falls happen. It's been a dream I've had for probably around 8 years. The experience far exceeding anything I could've possibly imagined. The grandeur of His creation brings to reality my own 'smallness' before such omnipotent God. He is so creative, amazing, awesome, magnificent, and oh-so-worthy to be praised.
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Psalm 19:1
Enjoying keeping up with your trip on this blog. It looks so beautiful!!!!! Still praying!
