Iguazu Falls, Brazil Side

Thursday, January 4, 2010

Have you ever been at a loss for words over God's creation? I hardly know how to describe the magnificence and the beauty of the Iguazu Falls. As you know from your own photo taking experiences, pictures simply don't do the real thing justice. The pics below don't even hold a candle to the grandeur of the falls (nominated for one of the 7 Wonders of the World, btw); but I have added them for your enjoyment.

Wednesday night, Pastor Paul, Angelica, and I caught a bus to Iguazu (about a 9 hour trip). Once there, we caught a taxi to our hostel, freshened up with a quick shower, and grabbed a bite to eat from the dining hall. Then, Angelica and I headed to the Iguazu Falls Park. After purchasing our passes, I found a man at the 'help' desk that spoke English and kindly pointed us in the right direction.

It was an extremely hot day with 100% humidity. But the views were so incredible that I hardly noticed the long walks and dripping sweat. Honestly, I was just so psyched to be there. I don't think I quit smiling the entire time!

Beth, it was so fun to see SO many new insects--especially butterflies. I tried to take pictures of each new one, but gave up because there were just too many varieties! I did have constant fluttering reminders of you all throughout the day though. ;-)

All these pictures were taken from the Brazil side of the falls. After spending the morning and part of the afternoon here, we headed to Parque de Aves (Bird Park). Ooooo. That was cool! Getting to HOLD Parrots and Tucans (and a boa constrictor!)--it was just so much fun! (Steaming hot in the tropical rainforest!!!)

That night I took a nice dip in the pool, at the hostel. Ahhh. Forced myself to stay awake long enough to eat dinner and then fell asleep.... so anxious for the next day to begin when we would go into Argentina! (See previous post)

I hope you enjoy some of these pictures.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Sorry I haven't written an update about actual day-to-day life here along with prayer requests/answers. Hopefully I can do that in the next day or so. (Yes, I actually am doing more than traveling to beaches, parks, and bird paradises! haha) It's already after midnight and tomorrow is going to be another full day.

Much Love,
Karyn
